About Ms. Julie

I am a California native. My home is on the Monterey peninsula along California's beautiful central coast.  I studied at California State University and later earned my Master's degree in Education from University of Southern California.

This is my third year at AISB. I have also taught in California, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Lebanon.  My experience includes teaching the US Common Core, British national, and IB PYP curricula.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, learning about cultures, history, art, and regional cuisine. During my free time, you'll likely find me exploring my surroundings, hiking, cooking, eating, listening to music, exercising, practicing yoga or reading. I am a life long learner and enjoy learning new things each day.  Learning is fun!

Each child is unique.  Each child brings knowledge, abilities, a background and life experiences to help make our classroom a special place. Parent, school and community partnerships help build a solid foundation for students enabling children to feel confident in growing and learning.  A safe and comfortable classroom is a place where students are nurtured and feel they can take risks and be successful.  Children learn in different ways and construct knowledge by engaging in whole class, small group, paired and individual learning.  Children are naturally curious about the world around them, and I hope to foster a deeper love of learning in each child through student centered and inquiry based learning experiences and reflection.  Asking questions, identifying and solving problems, and communicating effectively can lead to deep and meaningful learning and a stronger understanding of oneself, the community and the world.
